Francesco Toniolo is an adjunct lecturer at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, NABA (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti), SSML Carlo Bo, and several other universities and academic institutions.

He has been working for years in video game culture and has published numerous books on the subject, including PlayHer. Female Representations in Video Games (Edizioni Tlon, 2025), co-authored with Giulia Martino. He writes a weekly column for the newspaper Libertà and occasionally collaborates with La Lettura (the cultural supplement of Corriere della Sera) and FinalRound.

He also contributed to the founding of Cotoletta8bit and Imola Comics & Games.
