The Games Festival is also the place where we celebrate those who create, narrate, live, and breathe games. This is the moment when the Festival stops to say "thank you" to the people, projects and works that have made the past year in gaming so special.
This year’s ceremony will feature five awards covering every corner of the gaming world.
The Magnifico Awards
Play Magnifico is our way of saying thank you to those who surprise us with their passion and expertise. It is neither a lifetime achievement award nor a ranking, but a tribute to those who make our sector truly unique.
Goblin Magnifico is the award by Tana dei Goblin, designed for the most experienced players. A regular feature of Play - the winner of the previous edition is invited to the Festival every year.
RPG Magnifico recognises and promotes the most deserving works in the world of role-playing games. Now in its third edition and organised by Ludo Labo, it aims to become an international benchmark for those who write, publish and play RPGs.
Librogame Magnifico rewards the best gamebook published in the previous year. Organised in collaboration with Librogame’s Land, Italy’s largest community of enthusiasts and authors, it is based on the community’s vote.
Two new awards
This year, for the first time, we are presenting the Luca Errani – Giocare Insieme award, dedicated to an extraordinary educator who recently passed away, a champion of experiences designed to foster the independence of people with disabilities. The award goes to a board game capable of breaking down barriers, encouraging the active participation of people with different needs, and promoting a shared, dignified and non-stigmatising play experience. Not games ‘themed around disability’, but games that can genuinely be played together.
During the ceremony, the Ingegno Ludico award will also be announced, a new award dedicated to creativity and innovation in game design.
