Molly house

In Molly House, players take on the role of mollies to challenge gender norms in early 18th-century London. The game combines elements of social deduction, roll-and-move and set collection to recreate grand masked balls and escapades through the alleyways, as well as chases from moralistic police officers seeking to destroy the mollies’ community.

Players draw vice cards representing various acts, desires and encounters disapproved of by the Society for the Reformation of Manners, an association of citizens seeking to eradicate any behaviour deemed deviant in late 17th- and early 18th-century London. These cards allow players to organise parties with the help of other mollies. However, the same cards can also lead to arrest and the ruin of the molly house.

When players encounter agents of the Society, they will often have to pay bribes or be forced to become informants. Informants must desperately try to undermine the community without being discovered by the other mollies.
