Viole nel fango (Violets in the Mud) is a semi-cooperative card and role-playing game for three to seven players and a Facilitator, based on improvisation and role-playing dynamics. Players take on the roles of a Movement of British citizens of varying social status during the struggle for universal suffrage, spanning the period from 1907 to 1917.
The game focuses on debate, political pressure and the collective consequences of choices. The decisions made by the Movement produce immediate effects that will influence the game’s three key resources: Movement Morale, Public Visibility and Government Repression. The Movement’s Common Goal is to progress through the game’s four Clocks, which represent the different phases of the struggle for suffrage, and to reach the end of the game whilst maintaining a balance between the three resources.
