The new Call for Game Masters is here: PLAY OPEN RPG!
Long live Play Open RPG – Role-playing is feminine!
The table is open to everyone!
This year, the Call for Master changes its name… and its perspective.
After our first year in the new venue, we clearly felt the shift happening in the world of players, and the need to evolve came naturally. Anyone familiar with the world of role-playing games knows it’s becoming broader, more inclusive, and more diverse. And the term “master,” while historically important in our hobby, can feel a bit limiting today.
That’s why we asked ourselves how to make this initiative even more open and welcoming—capable of calling everyone to the table, whether to run games or to play.
This is how Play Open RPG was born: a new name and a slightly updated format, designed to give a boost to everyone who wants to bring role-playing games to PLAY – Festival del Gioco 2026.
In line with this year’s theme, we are looking for game masters, facilitators, and storytellers who want to bring games and adventures—but also explore, in their own way, the theme of Play 2026: the contribution of women to the world.
What is Play Open RPG
Play Open RPG at LA PLAY 2026 is the evolution of the Call for Master—with something extra.
It opens its doors to everyone who wants to actively take part in Play by bringing their own adventures and games, freely interpreting the Festival’s theme within their sessions.
How? That’s up to your creativity.
And here’s our “trick” (which isn’t really a trick): the theme is not an obstacle or a selection barrier, but an inspiration. An invitation to imagine, create, and tell stories.
Because this is what Play is: a shared, open space where play brings people together ❤️
